Christmas Sew-Along

Christmas is coming soon and I am getting in the mood to start stitching up some fun Christmas quilts! I found this quilt on Missouri Star Quilt Company’s website and fell in love! It is the perfect quilt to add to my studio for the holidays, but also a sweet quilt to toss over a cozy chair in my living room!

Here’s how we will do this beginning the week of September 10th:

Week 1 – Starch! You know that I am a big fan of starching fabric. I think it gives body to the fabric and helps establish very good, crisp sewing lines. So week 1, we will prep our fabric for pressing and cutting!

Week 2 – Cutting! This week, we will follow all of the cutting instructions laid out in the pattern. This actually is one of my favorite parts. I love cutting through all of the freshly starched and pressed fabrics!

Week 3 – Assemble A & B Trees! You will begin assembling the cute A & B tree templates. The templates come with the pattern, so no worries there! There are also videos included to help!

Week 4 – Assemble C & D Trees!

Week 5 – Assemble E & F Trees!

Week 6 – Row Assembly! The week we have been waiting for! All of the trees now get to come together in a beautiful row. This is where the magic begins!

Week 7 – Quilt Assembly! Now we get to stitch together each row to create a beautiful forest of sweet trees ready for the Holidays!

I hope you’ll join me and have a little fun preparing a beautiful, new quilt top that you can use in your studio or home during the holiday season! Make sure to hurry and place your order today for the quilt kit! It comes with the pattern, paper templates and a video tutorial!

  1. Hi Leslie.!
I just received my Holiday Hills kit and am getting ready to starch your way for the first time. I usually do a light starch and press right away. So I’m going to starch, hang, dry and press!!! What about the 6 1/4 yards of back ground? You mentioned cutting into 1yard pieces. Is that what I should do. I don’t want to mess this up!! Debbie
